Runner friendly 55.5 Triathlon - Sunday 3rd July 2011
2011 will see the inaugural running of a brand new addition to the Human Race event calendar, the 55.5 Triathlon at Dorney Lake, Eton.
The event consists of 55.5 kilometres of racing in total and features a short 500 metre open water swim, a 40 kilometre bike on closed roads and a 15 km run through the grounds of the 2012 Olympic venue. The new race distance is designed to appeal to competitors with a strong run, or those looking to build towards an Ironman or 70.3 distance race later in the year.
John Lunt, Managing Director at Human Race, explains further; "There are a growing number of races moving away from the standard distances to offer something fresh but in the main they tend to favour the cyclists - take Abu Dhabi for example. The 55.5 Triathlon will offer a similarly unique opportunity but with runners getting their own back.....!"
A fast, flat course on closed roads is likely to showcase some excellent racing and offers the chance to test legs, fitness and fuelling strategy over a longer distance. The 55.5 Triathlon forms part of a busy weekend of racing at Dorney Lake.
