On Saturday 24th September, over 5000 people descended on the beautiful Harewood House Estate in Leeds for the Brownlee Brothers’ annual Brownlee Tri.

Continuing to build their legacy event, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee’s triathlon saw nearly 1600 registered participants take on the swim, bike and run course near their home town of Bramhope.

Commenting after the event, double Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee said: “It has been a fantastic day for all involved. This is now the fourth year of Brownlee Tri and we’ve still got a third of participants taking part in their first triathlon, which is great so see.”

The free Brownlee Foundation Kids Duathlon, delivered by British Triathlon Trust, was in high demand throughout the day, with over 450 children of all ages trying out running, cycling and transitions.

Olympic silver medallist Jonny Brownlee said: “To have so many young people take part in our Kids Duathlon is important for the future of our sport – we want to get as many people involved as possible and we’re delighted to see so many kids getting involved at Brownlee Tri.”

The Brownlee Brothers started the first wave of the day at 9:30am, with participants taking part in Sprint, Super Sprint and Relay races throughout the day.  40% of participants were returning to the great atmosphere and family environment of Brownlee Tri for a second, third and even fourth time, whilst over half of the competitors were from Yorkshire.

Following the grand finish in front of Harewood House, participants and spectators enjoyed a packed Entertainment Village which offered a variety of activities and stalls.
